Basketball 1948-'51, Baseball 1949-'52

Vern was the Captain of the basketball team during the 1950-51 season.  He also served as the Captain of the baseball team in 1951.  He batted .333, .327 and .347 his last three years on the baseball team.  He received the Outstanding Athlete Award for the class of 1952.

Vern has served Northwestern by writing the constitution and bylaws for the reorganized Alumni Association in 1977.

Vern pastored eight different Lutheran churches over a span of 40 years until his retirement in 1995.  Vern continues to be active in evangelism, preaching at conferences throughout the upper Midwest.
