Basketball 1978-'82

Every winning program needs a sparkplug. For four seasons Brian provided the ignition for a dominating Eagles basketball team.  The short but explosive guard directed the Eagles to a first-ever NCCAA Division II Championship in 1979-'80 and then back-to-back national runner-up finishes in 1981 and 1982.  As a senior, Brian averaged 14.5 points per game, was selected as team captain, and was named to the all-conference team.  After his senior year, Brian received the Murchinson Award, which is given to the outstanding Christian basketball player in the country.

Off the court, Brian also brought a spark to Northwestern and the kingdom of God.  Between his junior and senior years, Brian played on the Sports Ambassadors team in the Philippines, where he had the privilege of personally seeing many nationals come to faith in Jesus Christ.  From 1989-'96 Brian joined teammate Mike Gunderson in Brazil as a church planter for the Evangelical Free Church of America.  Now back in the states, Brian brings energy to a wide variety of Christian organizations in the Twin Cities, including Bible Study Fellowship.  Brian also continues to bring energy to Northwestern as a member of the alumni council.
