Women’s Cross Country 1998-2001
Running is in Sara (Ostercamp) Lenz’s blood. As a three-time NCCAA All-American, two-time NCCAA Academic All-American and four-time UMAC All-Conference recipient, Lenz virtually ran the Northwestern women’s cross country team into the record books. The Eagles earned three consecutive conference championships during Lenz’s tenure while she herself won the UMAC Championship as an individual in 1999 and 2000. Until 2005, Lenz owned the top five-kilometer race time in school history, and remains just one of two women in Northwestern’s 18-Minute Club. The NCCAA’s Wheeler Award winner in 2001, Lenz currently holds eight of Northwestern’s top 5k times and 12 of the top 15 times.
Since her collegiate running days, Lenz is still running, although her course may not include grass. She and her husband Eric co-lead their church’s youth group, while Sara has run the VBS program in the past. Lenz, in partnership with Eric, runs her family as a wife and mother of two boys, Josiah and Jackson. Most importantly, Lenz continues to run towards Christ as she strives daily to be an ambassador for her savior.
