“Gundy” was a four-year letter winner in basketball.  He also lettered in baseball and track.  It was on the basketball floor where Gundy shone.  In his final three seasons he averaged 18 points a game.  He displayed an accurate hook shot and was an adept passer in the post.  Gundy was Northwestern’s first dominant man in the middle.

Floyd and his wife Fay were missionaries for 34 years in the Philippines.  They worked among the Ifugao tribe in Northern Luzon.  Gundy helped evangelize the Ifugao people and became a church planter.  He helped organize and establish an association of churches that had grown to 34 before his retirement from the field.

Gundy has used basketball as a tool to reach people for Christ around the world.  His entire life demonstrates what a difference a committed life makes in the world for the Kingdom of God
