Volleyball 1976-'78, Basketball 1976-'80, Softball 1977-'80, Track 1981-'82
Unable to play the sport of her first love at the school of her choice, Dali settled for playing four other sports during her Northwestern career (1976-1982). What she didn’t settle for, however, was playing anything half-throttle. Committed to doing her best and working hard, Dali always found herself in the middle of the action. For four seasons of softball she played catcher. On the basketball court she directed play as the point guard and led her team in steals. In volleyball she was her team’s hitter. On the track she was a sprinter, running the 100, 200, and 400 meters in addition to performing the long jump. Her crowning achievement as an athlete was winning a silver medal in the 200 meter dash at the 1981 state college meet.
While never the star player, Dali was forever a team leader and role model on and off whatever the playing surface. She was high-energy, motivated, an eager learner, dependable, a team player, and always a hard worker. Outside her wide world of sports, she also blessed multiple college departments working in the Word Processing Center, Development Office, Physical Education Office, Cashiers Office, and Records Office. Dali’s athletic contributions did not go without recognition. Several times she was picked by her teammates as a team captain. She was also named to the 35th Anniversary All-Star team at her high school in Seoul, Korea for her abilities in the sport of her first love: soccer.
