Basketball 1948-'52

Orville was an integral part of the Northwestern basketball team during his four years.  He was a starter all four seasons while playing for the purple and gold.  While at Northwestern, Orville found direction for his life.  This has resulted in 44 years of service with Wycliffe Bible Translators.  In June of 1954, he and his wife Mary were assigned to the Secoyas, a tribe of rainforest dwellers situated in the northeastern part of the country of Ecuador.  Mary served as a nurse, while Orville labored to translate the New Testament.  The first copies of the Secoya New Testaments were delivered to the Secoya people in 1992.  Through his commitment to the translation project, many Secoya people have come to accept Christ as their personal Savior.  Orville now serves as Wycliffe representative.
