The 1992 Eagles wrestling team was one for the record books. They had an outstanding season with a team that had great strength, depth and maturity; with many of the members being experienced wrestlers returning from the previous season.

After a strong effort during the regular season, the squad went on to win the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Tournament. Northwestern dominated its competition, scoring 111.75 points compared to their nearest opponent, Maranatha, who scored only 75.25 points allowing them to walk away with the 1992 NCCAA Championship title – a first for Northwestern.

Additionally that year, four Eagle wrestlers won individual championships and were also named to the All-American Team - Ted Glover, Mitch Erickson, Chad Gerlach and Dave Osterhus. Capturing second place for the Eagles were Pat Burch, Josh Lee, Nate Jerde and Jeff Devens; while third place finishers were Steve Hood and Randy Washington. The team also won a number of individual honors. Heavyweight Dave Osterhus was the recipient of two awards – Outstanding Wrestler of the Meet and the Ben Peterson Sportsmanship Award.  Head coach Pat Burch was named the NCCAA National Coach of the Year.
