If you page through Northwestern’s women’s basketball records, you’ll find Candy Wittstock’s name throughout, as she set several benchmarks during her career at NWC. A forward for the Eagles in the 1986-97 and 1988-90 seasons, Candy was a key part of the 1988-89 team that reached the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) national tournament and the 1989-90 team that won the conference championship. She is one of 12 players in Northwestern’s distinguished 1,000 Point Club, having scored the fifth-highest point total in the school’s history (1,470) while playing in only 75 games, averaging 19.6 points per game. The current Northwestern record holder for career average points per game, Candy was a two-time NCCAA All-American.

Wittstock took her All-American game to the classroom, teaching elementary students in public school, Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She also lends some knowledge while coaching her daughter’s basketball and softball teams. A mother of two, Candy and her husband Dan are members at First Baptist Church in Branson, Missouri.
