ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference has announced its Athletes of the Week for March 23-29, and the University of Northwestern once again has a pair of winners represented. Carson Haack (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) was named UMAC Men's Tennis North Division Athlete of the Week, while Katie Shilts (Cameron, Wis./Cameron) earned UMAC Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week recognition.

Haack's honor is his second of the 2026 season and the third of his career. He went 4-0 across two matches on Saturday, leading Northwestern to wins of 7-0 and 6-1. The junior won his No. 1 singles matches 6-1, 6-0 and 6-4, 6-2, while adding wins of 6-2 and 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, alongside Sam Majerus (River Falls, Wis./River Falls). Haack now owns an 11-5 doubles record this season, all at No. 1.

Shilts is a first-time Athlete of the Week award recipient after turning in a well-rounded performance in her outdoor debut for UNW at the Optimistic Open on Saturday. She placed 9th in the triple jump at 10.00m (32' 9.75) followed by a 12th-place mark of 4.90m (16' 1") in the long jump. Shilts also competed on the track, placing 14th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.12 seconds. She is currently ranked first in the UMAC in the long jump, and second in the 200 and triple jump.
