An all-time showing at the Bennie-Johnnie Autumn Invite landed
Emery Maki (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) her first UMAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week honor of the season, and the third of her career. The senior finished eighth in the women's 6k with a personal-best time of 23:05.4, which is the second-fastest time in program history. Maki shaved more than 11 seconds off her previous PR, which was third in the record books. She is the second Eagle to win the award this season, joining
Natalie Van De Riet's (Albertville, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) three selections.
Northwestern's women's soccer sweep featured
Marie Kendall's (Dakar, Senegal/Dakar Academy) second UMAC Offensive Player of the Week nod this season, and the fourth of her young career. The sophomore lit up the stat sheet in a pair of dominant conference wins, totaling 16 points in just 135 minutes of action. She scored a hat trick and assisted on another goal in a 7-0 win over North Central on Wednesday, before scoring four goals and assisting one more in a 9-0 victory at Bethany Lutheran on Saturday. Kendall's 1.54 goals per game and 3.54 points per game both lead NCAA Division III. Kendall was joined in this week's awards by her goalkeeper,
Sam Hansen (Cottage Grove, Minn./New Life Academy), who recorded a pair of shutouts on the week, making five saves in the process. This is Hansen's second UMAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award this season, and the fourth of her career.
The UMAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week is a familiar face, as
Ana Egge (Rapid City, S.D./Rapid City Christian) took home the honor for the fifth time this season. The junior averaged 4.33 kills per set in a pair of UMAC sweeps, including a 17-kill, four-dig, two-ace, two-block showing at Martin Luther on Friday night, in which she hit .517. She finished the week with 26 total kills, seven digs and three blocks, keeping the Eagles undefeated in conference play.
