ST. PAUL, Minn. - After a busy week in which most conference teams were competing in warm and sunny climates in the southern United States, the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference had plenty of worthy nominees for its Athlete of the Week awards. Among the recipients were two University of Northwestern student-athletes: Emma Morrissey (Wasilla, Alas./Colony) and Griffen Jarchow (Luverne, Minn./Luverne).

Morrissey is a first-time winner of the UMAC Softball Pitcher of the Week award. The junior appeared in three games in Florida, throwing 12 innings without giving up an earned run, including a complete-game shutout in a win over Curry. She also allowed just seven hits and struck out five, and owns a team-best ERA of 0.45 this season. The Alaska native also scored a run on the basepaths in a tight loss to Marywood, as the Eagles went 6-4 in the Sunshine State.

Jarchow's UMAC Men's Tennis North Division Athlete of the Week honor is his first in 2026 and the fourth of his career. The senior went 5-5 in Florida, including a 4-1 record at No. 2 doubles. His lone singles win of the trip was a doozy, as he swept his opponent from Albion 6-0, 6-0. The Luverne native is the third different UNW Men's Tennis player to win the award this season.
