ST. PAUL, Minn. - After another outstanding week of performances, five University of Northwestern student-athletes have been named Athletes of the Week by the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference. All five winners come from women's sports, including three different sports.
Emery Maki (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing),
Marie Kendall (Dakar, Senegal/Dakar Academy),
Mallory Moseman (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy),
Ana Egge (Rapid City, S.D./Rapid City Christian) and
Addeson Jenniges (Walnut Grove, Minn./Westbrook-Walnut Grove) were the recipients. This is the second time this year UNW has had five recipients of the award in the same week.

Maki earned her second-career UMAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week award after running a season-best 6k time of 23:58.9, just four seconds shy of her career-best. Her performance led Northwestern's runners at the Blugold Invitational and gave the Eagles a 25th-place finish. Kendall's UMAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award is her second UMAC honor of her freshman season, with the first coming on the defensive side. There was no doubt which side of the ball she was being recognized on this week, as she scored four goals and dished out two assists in UNW's two wins, including a hat trick at Crown on Saturday. The Senegal native, who was also named NCCAA Women's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the week on Monday, has now scored a goal in three-consecutive games, all UMAC wins.
Kendall wasn't the only women's soccer player recognized, as Moseman earned her first-career UMAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award after netting her first-career goal in Saturday's win at Crown and contributing to two shutouts in two games on the week. Northwestern also won a pair of volleyball awards after a 2-0 week that included an upset win at No. 20 Gustavus Adolphus.
Ana Egge (Rapid City, S.D./Rapid City Christian) received her first-career award of any kind, taking home the UMAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week honor. The sophomore exploded for a season-high 20 kills (5.00 per set) at Gustavus and finished with 26 (3.71 per set) on the week on .386 hitting. Her setter, Jenniges, was named UMAC Volleyball Setter of the Week for the third time this season after outings of 48 and 33 assists. She also tallied a total of 15 digs, two blocks and two aces on the week, and is sixth in all of NCAA Division III in assists per set (10.48).
