ST. PAUL, Minn. - The latest Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week awards have been announced, and the University of Northwestern continues its dominance in the golf categories in the final week of the fall season. Jakob Swanson (Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) was announced as the winner of the Men's Golf award, while Morgan Eckman (Jordan, Minn./Jordan) was the Women's Golf recipient.

Swanson's Men's Golf Athlete of the Week honor is his second in his lone as an Eagle, and the third consecutive week the UNW Men's Golf team has claimed the honor. The senior tied the school record for low individual round on Friday at the BLC Invite with a four-under 67 that included a hole-in-one on the eighth hole. He tied teammate Shane Seiffert (Corcoran, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) for medalist honors and led Northwestern to the team title with a program-low score of 285. Swanson also shot a 77 on Saturday at the MLC Fall Invitational, tying for 13th and helping UNW earn a second-place finish.

Eckman is a Women's Golf Athlete of the Week winner for the third time this season and the ninth time in her illustrious career. The award was given out five times this season and the Eagles won it each time, with Paige Johnson (Zimmerman, Minn./Homeschool) claiming the other two. Eckman had another sensational week as she led Northwestern to a pair of team wins and won medalist honors in both as well. She shot 75 at both the BLC Invite and the MLC Fall Invitational, winning by nine strokes at the latter.

Both Swanson and Eckman will be teeing it up at the UMAC Golf Championships Thursday-Saturday at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker, Minnesota, in hopes to lead their team to conference championships.
