COLUMBIA, S.C. –
Jah'Kiing Joseph (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Heritage) and
John Shevchuk (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine) of the University of Northwestern Men's Track and Field team are in Columbia, South Carolina this week to compete in the 2024 National Christian College Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field National Championships. The pair will compete on Thursday, May 9
th and Friday, May 10
th.
Day One
Jah'Kiing Joseph (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Heritage) and
John Shevchuk (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine) both took to the track Thursday for sprinting prelims. Shevchuk finished 35
th in the 100-Meter Dash with a time of 11.51. An hour later, both Shevchuk and Joseph competed in the 200-Meter Dash prelims. Joseph turned in a time of 22.46, good for 17
th position, while Shevchuk set a PR with his clocking of 22.69, which put him in 23
rd.
Neither qualified for finals, which mean's Shevchuk's week is done. Joseph will compete Friday in the Men's Long Jump.
Day Two
Jah'Kiing Joseph (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Heritage) transitioned from the track to the pit for the final day of competition at the NCCAA National Championships on Friday. The freshman participated in the Long Jump and leaped 6.33 meters, which earned him 11th place. While Joseph's rookie season has concluded, his future remains bright as he figures to be a fixture near the top of the UMAC and NCCAA for years to come.
