ST. PETER, Minn. - The University of Northwestern Men's Track and Field team competed at the Gustie Twilight in St. Peter on Wednesday afternoon, highlighted by multiple personal bests and strong finishes across the distance and field events.
Remington Fagerland turned in one of the top performances of the day in the javelin, placing 5th with a personal-best throw of 47.91 meters (157' 2"). His mark continues to lead the UMAC this season.
Caleb Phillips (Poplar, Wis./South Shore) led the charge on the track with a personal-best performance in the 1,500 meters, finishing 4th in 4:32.14. He also added an 8th-place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:16.06.
Joshua Ringsmuth (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) recorded a season-best time of 4:35.29 in the 1,500 meters to place 5th. He later teamed up with Emery Maki,
Will Dorch (Rapid City, S.D./Stevens), and Lidia Castro in the mixed 4x400 relay, where the group finished 5th in 3:52.39.
Tyler Dueber (Bloomington, Minn./Homeschool) showed strong range, placing 6th in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:51.84 and adding a 9th-place finish in the 1,500 meters (4:41.87). Sam Otis competed in both the 800 and 1,500 meters, finishing 7th in each event with times of 2:12.82 and 4:37.12, respectively.
Owen Van De Riet (St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) added a 10th-place finish in the 800 meters (2:17.81).
Peter Kephart (Lake Nebagamon, Wis./Northwestern) placed 10th in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:52.47, while
Cody Mercado (Arden Hills, Minn./Fourth Baptist Christian School) recorded a personal-best time of 5:53.18 in the event.
Other Notable Performance:
John Shevchuk (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine) returned to competition for the first time since the UMAC Indoor Championship, clocking times of 24.03 seconds in the 200 meters and 54.02 seconds in the 400 meters.
