ASHLAND, Wis. – The University of Northwestern men's soccer team set its second weekend of Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action underway with a 1-0 victory over Northland College on Saturday. The Eagles outshot its opponent 20-3 over the course of 90 minutes of play, en route to UNW's first road win of the season.
Northwestern started the offensive attack early, forcing its first shot just 27 seconds into the matchup. Before 20 minutes had wrapped up, the visiting team had posted four shots while holding the Lumberjacks to zero. The rhythm continued and at the 38:46 point
Mark Habeck (Winona, Minn./Winona) found the back of the net, courtesy of an
Eric Fast (Eagan, Minn./Homeschool) assist. The score marked Habeck's second of the 2013 campaign and allowed the Eagles to head into halftime with a 1-0 upper hand on the home team.
Even with a one-goal lead, UNW did not lull, continuing its offensive pressure towards the Northland defense.
