MANKATO, Minn. - The University of Northwestern Men's Soccer Team traveled to Mankato to face the number 2-seeded Bethany Lutheran in the UMAC Semifinals. The Vikings controlled much of the possession, outshooting the Eagles 19–2, but Northwestern battled until the whistle blew. Bethany Lutheran broke through in the 27th minute and added goals in the 41st and 80th minutes to seal the 3–0 win.
Northwestern's first shot came in the 35th minute when Gabe Carson (Andover, Minn./Legacy Christian Academy) intercepted a pass in the attacking third and fired a quick shot over the crossbar. In the 54th minute, Jay'ce Jones (Marina del Rey, Calif./Palisades Charter) had another look that also sailed high. The second half brought high emotion and physical play, as both teams battled fiercely for a spot in the championship. The Eagles pressed forward, creating chances but were unable to convert.
Jared Mojardin (Denver, Colo./Northeast Early College) and Jones, the Eagles' leading scorers this season, were held scoreless in the match, as Mojardin worked hard in the midfield to slow down BLC's attack, while Jones worked to find space up top. In goal, Hayden DeAnnuntis (Ferndale, Wash./Ferndale) turned in a strong performance, recording eight saves to keep the Eagles within reach throughout the match.
With the loss, Northwestern capped off the 2025 season, finishing 3rd in the conference with a 5-5-2 record and a 7-8-2 overall record.
