Interview with Matt Frost
ST. PAUL – The first field goal ever attempted by Northwestern College student Matt Frost proved to be very valuable as the junior won free tuition for a year at the school's annual “Football Frenzy” event hosted in conjunction with a home football game. Frost, a Savage, Minn.-native who has never worn a helmet or pads, passed, punted and kicked his way to free tuition valued at $26,740 on Saturday afternoon.
Frost's pass went 37 yards, followed by a 40-yard punt that rested between the hash marks just inside the 23-yard line. Then, with a 10-mile per hour northwest breeze in his face, Frost stared down his line and drilled the 33-yard field goal, drawing the ball in from the right to fit inside the right goal post. Moments after being mobbed by fellow classmates, the Bethany Academy alumnus delivered the exciting news to his dad, who replied on the phone, “Don't joke around with your dad, son!” Frost assured his father that what had just occurred was indeed a true story.
Frost is studying Business-Entrepreneurship at Northwestern, hoping to take his expertise into the car racing industry upon graduating in May of 2014.
Frost became the second person to ever win free tuition at Football Frenzy, in which current and prospective Northwestern students are drawn randomly to participate in contests for free tuition and a $500 scholarship to the school's bookstore. Peter Miller was the first student to win, finishing his pass, punt and kick with a 10-yard field goal in 2009 [

Northwestern hosts a similar event in January called Hoops Hysteria. Spencer Peterson won free tuition at that event in 2002 when he made a layup, free throw, three-pointer and half-court shot in 30 seconds [

The Eagles football team gave fans more to cheer about as they defeated MacMurray College 54-14 in Northwestern's home-opening game.
