ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Northwestern College men's soccer team scored early and often in the home team's 6-0 win over North Central University on Saturday. The Eagles' offense proved to be the difference maker in the game, as they outshot the visitors 31-8, including 20-2 in the first 45 minutes of play.

Throughout the 90 minutes of play, NWC maintained the offensive advantage with continual attacks being made on North Central's end of the field. Sean Taylor (Sydney, Australia /Kenosha Christian Life ) netted his first goal of the game just 13:11 into the first period and was followed up by a Paul Episcopo (Appleton, Wis./Appleton North) cross that deflected off a North Central defender and into the Rams' goal in the 42nd minute of play. Just 1:28 after the Purple and Gold's second score, Sam Mann (Woodbury, Minn./St. Paul Central) dished the ball to Taylor who found the back of the net for the third time this weekend, giving the home a three goal advantage heading into intermission.

The second half looked much the same as the first with the Eagles controlling the tempo on offense. At the 62:15 mark Northwestern scored off another deflection, once again led by Episcopo, whose shot deflected off a Ram defender and landed between the pipes. NWC's final goal came around seven minutes later off of a corner kick situation when Garmina Paygah-Fangiah (Monrovia, Liberia/Coon Rapids ), courtesy of Episcopo, headed the ball past the North Central goalkeeper, finalizing the score at 6-0.

After fending off all five of the Rams' shots on goal, Shane Coleman (Wyoming, Minn./Homeschool) picked up the shutout, the fourth of his sophomore campaign.

With the win, Northwestern improves to 6-5-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conerence (UMAC). Next up for the Eagles is a road trip to Ashland, Wis. on Thursday when the team will take on Northland College at 1 p.m. The first time the two teams met this season NWC picked up a 3-0 win over the Lumberjacks at Reynolds Field.
