UNW Remains at No. 24 in Latest AVCA Poll

LEXINGTON, Ky. - After a 3-0 week that included a sweep over a team receiving national votes, and a five-set thriller, the University of Northwestern Volleyball team remained in the No. 24 spot in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Top 25 Poll.

While UNW's vote total did increase from 170 to 229, shrinking the gap between it and the No. 23 team, the Eagles stood pat in the same position as last week, when they entered the top 25 for the first time this season. Northwestern swept (RV) St. Olaf in a dominant effort on Wednesday night, before surviving a Halloween scare from UW-Superior in five sets on Saturday, and finishing the weekend with a road sweep at North Central. The Oles are still receiving votes this week, down from 30th to 32nd overall.

There was a swap at the top of the poll this week, as Centre overtook Illinois Wesleyan in No. 1 position. UW-Oshkosh, who defeated UNW in September, dropped from third to fourth, while Juniata, whom Northwestern swept that very same weekend, remained at No. 9. Former Eagle opponents UW-Eau Claire and Dubuque came in at 15th and 16th, respectively, while Bethel (27th) and UW-Platteville (40th) both continue to receive votes.

UNW will host Gustavus Adolphus on Wednesday at 7:00 PM to wrap up its non-conference schedule, before closing out the regular season this weekend against Bethany Lutheran (Friday) and Martin Luther (Saturday).
