ST. PAUL, Minn. - A trio of University of Northwestern student-athletes are among those honored in the penultimate Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week awards of the 2024-25 academic year. Siblings Griffen and Elise Jarchow (Luverne, Minn./Luverne) swept the UMAC Tennis North Division awards, while Emily Ashton (Camas, Wash./St. Mary's Academy) received the Women's Outdoor Field nod. With Tuesday's announcement, UNW has now won 50 UMAC Athlete of the Week awards this year.

Griffen Jarchow's (Luverne, Minn./Luverne) Men's Tennis North Division honor is the third for him this season. The junior won all three doubles matches he played last week and went 2-1 in No. 2 singles matches to lead Northwestern to a pair of wins to punch their ticket to this weekend's UMAC Tennis Tournament. His sister, Elise Jarchow (Luverne, Minn./Luverne), had a similar impact in leading the UNW Women's Tennis team to a berth in the UMAC Tournament as well. The senior went 3-2 in doubles and 3-2 in singles over five matches in five days, but most importantly, went 4-0 in Saturday's conference matches. The UMAC Women's Tennis North Division Player of the Week award is Jarchow's first of the 2025 season, but the fifth of her outstanding career in purple.

Ashton took home the UMAC Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week award for the second time this season and the third time in her illustrious career. The junior won the javelin competition at Saturday's Rider/Bolstorff Invitational with a season-best heave of 36.75m, putting her 78th in NCAA Division III and keeping her atop the conference for the season. She also turned in a sixth-place finish at the University of Minnesota's Gary Wilson Invitational last Wednesday.

MEN'S TENNIS NORTH DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

- Jarchow went 5-1 to lead UNW to a 2-1 week and punch their ticket to the UMAC Tournament.
- His lone loss came at No. 2 singles at Hamline, but his No. 2 doubles team did defeat the Pipers, 6-3.
- The junior capped off his week with a dominant, 4-0 day in sweeps of Crown and Martin Luther.

WOMEN'S TENNIS NORTH DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

- Jarchow racked up 6 wins on the week to lead Northwestern.
- Her 4-0 Saturday in wins over Crown and Martin Luther helped propel the Eagles into the UMAC Tournament and included wins of 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.

WOMEN'S OUTDOOR FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

- Emily Ashton (Camas, Wash./St. Mary's Academy) continued her impressive junior season as she won the javelin with a season-best throw of 36.75 meters (120'7").
- Her heave broke the top 100 Division III ranking again, throwing a DIII 78th top distance.
- She has thrown over 36 meters in the last four meets and has not finished lower than 6th place in any meet this season.
- Ashton continues to lead the conference by nearly 3 feet.
