ST. PAUL, Minn.- The University of Northwestern Men's Track and Field Team saw a handful of strong performances, including four PRs, as they competed in the Rider/Bolstorff Invitational hosted by Macalester on Saturday afternoon. After Saturday's event, the Eagle men have one more regular season event before they head to the UMAC Outdoor Championships.
The UMAC Championships aren't until next weekend, but
Jah'Kiing Joseph (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Heritage) appeared to be in championship form in the 400M Dash this weekend. The freshman finished in third place, turned in a PR at 51.20 seconds, and will be in the running to win the event at the conference championships a week from now as he is ranked near the top of the conference in the event after Saturday's performance.
John Shevchuk (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine) competed in the 100M Dash and turned in a time of 12.09 seconds.
Ashton Lofton (Colorado Springs, Colo./Colorado Springs Christian) was entered into the 100M and the 200M Dashes on Saturday. Lofton ran a 12.43 in the 100M and finished at 25.54 seconds in the 200M.
Owen Van De Riet (St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) traveled to Macalester on Thursday evening to compete in the 5000M Run. He finished at 18:14.34. Van De Riet went back down Snelling Avenue on Saturday afternoon to compete with the rest of his team. He picked up a PR in the 800M at 2:23.52.
A pair of Eagles turned in PR times in the 1500M Run.
Nathan Eikom (Eagan, Minn./Homeschool) and
Joshua Ringsmuth (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) finished within milliseconds of each other in the event and they each ran the fastest time in that event in their careers so far. Eikom finished at 4:32.50 and Ringsmuth was narrowly behind him at 4:32.92.
John Thomas III (St. Cloud, Minn./Apollo) also competed in the 1500M and came in at 5:07.95.
The Eagles 4x400M Relay Team of
Will Dorch (),
Jah'Kiing Joseph (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Heritage), Joshua RIngsmuth, and
Nathan Eikom (Eagan, Minn./Homeschool) ran a 3:55.23 and finished in 12
th place overall.
The Eagles' last chance to build up momentum before next weekend's championships will be on Wednesday, May 1
st at St. Thomas' Joe Sweeney Invitational.
