GREENVILLE, S.C. - The National Christian College Athletic Association has announced its Student-Athlete of the Week recipients for February 26th-March 3rd, and for the third consecutive week, the University of Northwestern houses the winner of the Men's Tennis award. This week,
Jacob Weddle (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander) earned the honor for the first time in his career.
Weddle could arguably have won the award in prior weeks as well if it weren't for his teammate,
Stewart Morrell (Elk River, Minn./Homeschool), etching his name in the Northwestern record books in each of the previous two weeks. While Morrell has been setting career records, his doubles partner has quietly remained undefeated as well in 2024. This past weekend, Weddle was a perfect 4-0 in two matches to help UNW stay unbeaten as a team at 8-0. The junior won his #2 singles match versus St. Scholastica 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 (tiebreak) and teamed up with Morrell for an 8-7 (7-4) win at #1 doubles, as the Eagles knocked off the Saints, 5-4. Later on versus Ripon, Weddle cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 win at #2 singles and an 8-2 #1 doubles win, again with Morrell at his side.
