ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference announced its Men's Tennis Awards for the 2025 season on Tuesday afternoon, and the University of Northwestern was well-represented. The Eagles finished with two players on the All-Conference First Team, two on the Second Team and one Honorable Mention selection. Additionally,
Matt Swigart's squad was voted by its conference peers as the recipient of the Team Sportsmanship Award.

The highlight for Northwestern was freshman
Caleb Swigart (Cottage Grove, Minn./Park) being named the UMAC North Division Rookie of the Year. In his first year of conference play, Swigart went 3-1 in singles matches, including 1-0 at No. 3 and 2-0 at No. 4. He held a matching 3-1 record in doubles matches, including going 3-0 at No. 2. The freshman also took home Second Team All-Conference Honors. This is the second consecutive season an Eagle has won the Rookie of the Year award, after
Carson Haack (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) did so in 2024. Haack was also one of two Eagles named to the All-Conference First Team, doing so for the second time in as many years on campus. Haack went 3-1 in both singles and doubles in UMAC play this season, all at No. 1. He was also named UMAC Men's Tennis North Division Player of the Week on April 8th. The other Eagle on the First Team was
Griffen Jarchow (Luverne, Minn./Luverne), who was UNW's most frequent flier in the UMAC Player of the Week circuit this season, winning the award three times. This is Jarchow's second straight season on the First Team and his third as an All-Conference selection. He was also chosen as Northwestern's representative on the All-Sportsmanship team.
Joining Swigart on the All-Conference Second Team is his classmate,
Sam Majerus (River Falls, Wis./River Falls). Majerus's rookie campaign saw him attain a 2-1 record at No. 3 singles and a 3-1 record at No. 1 doubles, as Haack's running mate. Fellow freshman
Isaac Thomforde (Crookston, Minn./Crookston) was named All-Conference Honorable Mention despite missing a bulk of the conference season due to injury. Thomforde only played one UMAC singles match but did go 1-1 at No. 2 doubles. Northwestern was also voted as the recipient of the Team Sportsmanship Award, given to the unit best displaying sportsmanship throughout the conference season.
