Volleyball Draws Rematch With UW-Eau Claire in Whitewater Regional

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The NCAA released the Division III Volleyball National Tournament bracket on Monday afternoon, and the 23rd-ranked University of Northwestern will have a chance for revenge in Thursday's opening round. The Eagles drew No. 24 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the Round of 64 after automatically qualifying for the tournament with the program's 13th conference tournament championship. UW-Eau Claire was an at-large selection into the field after losing in the first round of the WIAC Tournament to No. 17 UW-Platteville. The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is the top seed in the eight-team regional and will host all seven games from Thursday-Saturday.

The full 64-team bracket can be accessed here.

Northwestern and Eau Claire faced each other once already this season, on October 9th in Eau Claire. The Blugolds, who were receiving votes in the AVCA Top 25 Poll at the time, were able to defend their home court and defeat UNW in four sets. The two teams have played 31 times dating back to 1986, with UWEC holding a 21-10 advantage in the series. This is the first time they have faced each other in the postseason.

Northwestern will play in the third game of four on Thursday in Whitewater, scheduled to begin at 4:30 PM. The winner will face the winner of UW-Whitewater and Ohio Wesleyan in the Round of 32. We will have more coverage as it is made available on unweagles.com and on all our social channels (@unweagles).
