WARSAW, Ind. – On Friday morning, the University of Northwestern Women's Cross Country team took their mark at the Warsaw Community High School Cross Country Course in Indiana. The team competed in the 5K race for the NCCAA National Championships. As a team, the Eagles finished 8
th overall to wrap up their 2024 season.
Emery Maki (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) finished her impressive first Cross Country season in 17
th place overall. She led the Eagles, finishing with a time of 20:00.30. Maki was just three seconds away from her personal record on a 5K course. The second Eagle runner to cross the finish line was
Caroline Ringsmuth (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove). Ringsmuth has improved her personal best almost every time she has stepped on a course this year, and today was no different as she turned in a time of 20:18.80, beating her previous best by 7 seconds. Eleven seconds behind Ringsmuth came her teammate,
Isabelle Yuhanna (Ham Lake, Minn./North Lakes Academy). Yuhanna finished the race in 20:29.50 as she finished 30
th overall and 3
rd for the Eagles. Allie Arrendondo was the next racer to complete the 5K for Northwestern as she clocked a time of 21:25.60.
With another personal record, Samary Acuna dropped her previous record by 57 seconds as she finished the race with a time of 23:06.20. Three places back was freshman
Kimberlyn Case (Sleepy Eye, Minn./Litchfield). Case notched a 23:28.90 finish in her first National Championship appearance. The final two runners for Northwestern were
Faith Matvey (Meadowlands, Minn./Lakeview Christian Academy) and
Jada Rounds (Rochester, Minn./Homeschool). Matvey tallied a finish of 23:55.10 while Rounds turned in a time of 25:46.30.
As the 2024 Women's Cross Country Season came to a close on Friday, the Eagles will continue to build on their momentum, as they do not have any seniors, and will be back in action in August, 2025.
