ST. PAUL, Minn.- The University of Northwestern Men's Soccer team faced off against Martin Luther College at Reynolds Field on Thursday night. UNW was riding a three game winning streak entering the contest and saw that streak grow to four games, defeating the Knights 4-0. The Eagles improved to 3-1-0 in conference play.
The red hot Eagles entered the game playing very good soccer and they showcased that right away in Thursday's contest. The Eagles scored only three minutes into the game and jumped out to a very early lead on a goal from 
Jonathan-Thomas Olsen (Modesto, Calif./James Enochs High). Olsen's goal came off of a nice pass from 
Aaron Hill (New Brighton, Minn./Mounds View) who was credited with the assist. Olsen wasn't done as he continued his hot start to the night by scoring again in the 17
th minute, this time the assist was credited to 
Curtis Tinjum (Wausau, Wisc./Wausau West). Olsen's two goals in the contest were his 3
rd and 4
th of the season. The Eagles led 2-0 early.
The Eagles' onslaught of offense did not stop there. Less than three minutes later, 
Alejandro Alfaro (Murrieta, Calif./Vista Murrieta) got into the action by scoring his second goal of the season off of a pass from 
Joey McMillin (Hugo, Minn./Centennial). The first half came to a close with the Eagles leading 3-0.
In the second half, goals were a little bit harder to come by. Despite generating over 20 scoring chances in the second half, the Eagles were held scoreless until the 75
th minute. 
Curtis Tinjum (Wausau, Wisc./Wausau West) and 
Garrett Miers (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) would combine for assists on a goal scored by 
Luis Villalobos (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North). The goal was his second of the season and would bring the game to its final score of 4-0.
The Eagles' team statistics (both offensively and defensively) were extremely impressive in the contest. The Eagles outshot the Knights 34-4 and had 19 shots on goal while only allowing 3 shots on goal from MLC.
Andrew Skoglund (Northfield, Minn./Skoglund Academy) and 
Isaac Long (Los Osos, Calif./Morro Bay) both played in net for UNW and combined for the shutout in the win.
The Eagles will look to continue this stretch of hot play on Saturday, October 1
st when they host Bethany Lutheran College at Reynolds Field. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:30 P.M.
