Playoffs Preview: Eagles Travel to UW-Superior in UMAC Women's Hoops Semifinals Wednesday

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Northwestern women's basketball team is set to travel to UW-Superior for a Wednesday night UMAC semifinal match-up. The Yellowjackets were dethroned by Bethany Lutheran Monday night in quarterfinal action in the UMAC's game of the week. This will mark the teams' third meeting of the season, with both teams having won on their home court. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. and the winner will advance to Championship play on Saturday with an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament on the line.
 
The Last Time They Met
Northwestern last met up with UW-Superior on Feb. 19 when they were defeated 85-58 in Superior. Rio Landers (Grand Meadow, Minn./Grand Meadow) led the Eagles, recording a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Jordan Sauve (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) scored eight, while Miranda Crenshaw (Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) added seven. In all-time records, Superior leads UNW 23-10. Earlier this season, the Eagles cruised past the Yellowjackets 81-66 in the Ericksen Center. With the win, Northwestern broke a 14 game winning streak (head-to-head with UWS) that spanned seven seasons.
 
UNW Stat Leaders
Sophomore guard, Kelsea Lund (Madison, Minn./La qui Parle Valley), leads the UMAC in more categories than one. She sits fifth in scoring, averaging 16.5ppg. The sophomore leads the conference in 3-PT field goal percentage (.460) and free throw percentage (.829). Lund connects on an average of 2.7 threes per game, which tops the UMAC (64 threes this season). Senior forward, Rio Landers (Grand Meadow, Minn./Grand Meadow) is an avid piece to the lineup bringing size and height. She sits second in the conference for rebounding, averaging 9.0 per game (226 total). Along with her rebounding, Landers leads the league in blocked shots, with 66 this season (averaging 2.6 per game). Sophomore guard, Brooklyn DeKam (Edgerton, Minn./Southwest MN Christian), brings a solid performance each and every game as well, ranking second in free throw percentage (.818). Junior guard, Jordan Sauve (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) sits third in the UMAC for steals with 66 overall (2.6 per game).
 
Spotlight on Superior
The Yellowjackets enter Wednesday play with a 17-8 overall record and a 13-3 mark in the UMAC. Their three conference losses came to Bethany Lutheran (twice) and UNW. Superior's Eva Reinertsen has been dominant this season, averaging 18.2ppg (third in UMAC). Emily Carpenter ranks high in the UMAC's top 3-PT statistics, second in percentage (.415) and fourth in attempts per game (2.4, 59 total). The Reinertsen, Carpenter duo sits second and third, respectively for assists this season, averaging 3.5 and 3.4, respectively (87 and 85 total). Carpenter leads the UMAC in steals, averaging 2.7 per game with a total of 67.

All UMAC postseason events have the following set admissions prices: Adults, $10; college students and seniors, $5; youth (Age 6-18), $5; age 5 and under, FREE. Any UMAC students, faculty and staff are free with a valid and current institutional ID. No other passes will be accepted.
