Berglund, Lund and Landers Earn UMAC All-Conference Nods

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced its 2018-19 women's basketball awards Monday afternoon. The Eagles, who ended the year with an overtime loss to the regular season champion, UW-Superior, landed three athletes on the All-Conference list. Amy Berglund (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) made the list for the fourth time in her career – this time landing on the Second Team. Freshman Kelsea Lund (Madison, Minn./La qui Parle Valley) and junior Rio Landers (Grand Meadow, Minn./Grand Meadow) were both named to the Honorable Mention list.

Amy Berglund (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) finishes her career as one of the most impactful players in Northwestern history and this season was no exception. The guard led the team in scoring averaging 11.7 ppg and a team-best 63 steals. Her 1,491 career points is the sixth best in school history, while Berglund's 616 career rebounds ranks her in the top seven of all time. She has tallied 317 steals (the second most in Northwestern history) and also sits at No. 2 in all-time blocks with 118.
 
Kelsea Lund (Madison, Minn./La qui Parle Valley) joined the program this season and made an immediate impact. The freshman led the team in three-point shooting with 68 makes. She averaged 2.5 per game – the second must in the UMAC. Lund averaged 10.6 ppg and dished out a team-best 69 assists on the year.
 
Rio Landers (Grand Meadow, Minn./Grand Meadow) emerged as a player to watch this season, averaging 10.5 ppg and a team-high 7.1 rebounds per game. The junior recorded three double-doubles on the year – her high coming against St. Scholastica when she poured in 23 points and added 16 rebounds.
 
Senior Brooklyn Plagge (Hampton, Iowa/Hampton-Dumont) earned Northwestern's UMAC Sportsmanship award this year.
 
The Eagles finished the conference season 10-6 overall and advanced to the UMAC Tournament for the seventh straight season.
