Men’s Soccer Falls in Conference Opener, 5-1

Box Score NEW ULM, Minn. – The University of Northwestern Eagles men's soccer team traveled to Martin Luther College (2-3-0, 1-0-0 UMAC) to open up Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play. The Knights topped the Eagles by a final score of 5-1, to move UNW's record to 1-3-0 overall and 0-1-0 in UMAC play.
 
The opening half was filled with offense. Northwestern notched the first goal of the contest, from junior Tyler Hurley (Bloomington, Minn./Eden Prairie). Martin Luther would then answer with three goals of their own, bringing a 3-1 lead into halftime.
 
The Knights scoring did not stop in the closing half. Martin Luther was able to tally two more goals, bringing the final score to 5-1 to end the match. Each team was able to tally 20 shots, but the Eagles failed to net any equalizing goals.
