Box Score ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – The University of Northwestern men's soccer struggled to fend off Crown College in 2-0 loss Friday night. Despite the strong effort by the Eagles' strikers, UNW couldn't quite execute on goal like they'd hoped.
Much like the women's game earlier in the evening, both sides had uneventful nights in goal with Crown and Northwestern going into half tied at zero. Cristian Olarte had a busy second half on the field scoring both Storm goals in the 72nd minute and the 76th. Sam Eckman tallied an assist for Cristian's second goal of the night.
Crown's Tanner Fisher earned the shutout of the night with seven saves in goal. Although UNW out-shot the home team 15-9 and had three post shots, they couldn't respond to the two late goals, securing Crown's 2-0 victory.
Northwestern (2-8 overall, 2-3 UMAC) will face Bethany Lutheran College tomorrow night at 5:15 p.m. The Eagles will play again Tuesday night at 4 p.m. at Hamline University before returning home next weekend for a set of homecoming games at Reynolds Field.
