Box Score ST. PAUL – Ranked number two in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC), the University of Minnesota Morris took the win from the University of Northwestern Saturday night at Reynolds Field. In fourth place, the Eagles continue to seek a few last wins before post-conference play begins.
Neither teams hit the ground running in the first half. Going back and forth with possession, zero goals were scored in the first 45 minutes of play. Northwestern tallied four shots compared to the Cougars' two shots.
Shingo Yamane scored in the second period for the Cougars, assisted by Devin Chuba in the 61st minute. The Eagles weren't as present on offense as last night's contest, having only three shots on goal for the night by
David Mooers (Anoka, Minn./Anoka),
Matthew McCann (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield), and
Eric Fast (Eagan, Minn./Homeschool). With no response to Morris' solo goal, the Purple and Gold were unable to recover the game.

Turner Main (Kewauee, Wis./Kewaunee) tallied four saves for the day compared to Cody Christ's three for the Cougars. Main now has 14 saves as a freshman, starting in five games for Northwestern.
Northwestern (5-10-1 Overall, 4-4-1 UMAC) will head north next weekend to face the College of St. Scholastica on Friday at 1 p.m. and Northland College at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
