Box Score MORRIS, Minn. – The Northwestern College men's soccer team was unable to fend off three University of Minnesota Morris scoring attacks on Friday in a matchup between the two teams tied for second place in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) standings. The Eagles posted 10 shots, more than they have totaled in the past three competitions, but one first-half and two second-half goals gave the home team the advantage in the contest.
The Purple and Gold held solid on defense until the 22:04 mark when Matthew Bennis put the home team on the scoreboard after his shot hit the crossbar and ended up in the net, giving the Cougars a 1-0 advantage. NWC tallied three more shots before halftime but ended the first period facing a one-goal deficit.
Minnesota Morris' second and third goals came with 19:33 and 12:56 left on the clock respectively. The Eagles were unable to respond to the scoring run and came up on the short end of the 3-0 final score.
