Box Score ST. PAUL, Minn. – After allowing just one scoring opportunity in the first 45 minutes of regulation, the Northwestern College men's soccer team gave up three second-half goals within 10 minutes in Tuesday's 4-0 loss against Augsburg College.
The Eagles held their own right off the bat as they withstood the Auggies' first three offensive attacks, but the visitor's fourth found the back of the net at the 19:15 mark of the first period. NWC was unable to overcome the deficit and found itself ending the half down 0-1.
The second half saw the Eagles fighting back both offensively and defensively until the 23rd minute mark of the second half, when the first of three Augsburg goals got past Northwestern's backline, giving them a 2-0 lead. Within 10 minutes, the Auggies had posted two more points on the board, securing their 4-0 advantage.
The Purple and Gold posted three shots in comparison to Augsburg's 12, and mustered up just one shot on goal in the 90 minutes of play.
NWC (5-5-1 overall, 3-2-1 conference) will look to get back in the win column when they take on North Central University in another Upper Midwest Athletic Conference weekend of competition Friday and Saturday, October 5 and 6.
The Eagles will play the visitors in Friday's 4:30 p.m. game held at the Coon Rapids (Minn.) Soccer Complex. On Saturday, Northwestern will return the favor and host the Rams, with kickoff scheduled for 12 p.m. Live stats and video fro Friday's game can be found
