DULUTH, Minn. -- The Northwestern College men's soccer team closed the book to their 2010 season a little earlier than the Eagles had hoped as the Purple and Gold lost to the College of St. Scholastica 3-0 in the semifinal round of the UMAC Tournament.
The Saints' Toby Peter scored off of a Brandon Stemwedel corner kick just four minutes into the game to give the home team the lead. Northwestern didn't help its cause, scoring an own goal 13 minutes later to put the Eagles down 2-0.
The Saints' Cody Sveiven put the nail in the coffin late in the second half as his goal in the 73rd minute sealed Northwestern's fate.
Northwestern, the third seed in the tournament, finishes its 2010 campaign with a 9-9-3 overall record and a 7-4-2 mark in conference play.The Eagles rebounded this season after going 7-13-1 in 2009.
