Men's Soccer, St. Scholastica end in 1-1 tie

ST. PAUL – Northwestern College played to a 1-1 tie with the College of St. Scholastica on Saturday afternoon as both teams finished their 2010 regular seasons.  After 110 minutes of play, neither team could put a second goal through the pipes, despite several chances.

Jeremy Stiner (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) was the goal-scorer for Northwestern, as he found the back of the net on a shot in the 16th minute.  Ian Linder responded for the Saints as he evened the score at the 75:43 mark.

Goalkeepers Josh Niedermayer (Oconomowoc, Wis./Kettle Moraine) (Oconomowoc, Wis./Kettle Morraine) and Sam Reed did the rest of the work as they didn't let anything past them to force the tie.

Northwestern ended their regular season with a 9-8-3 overall record and an 8-4-2 mark in UMAC action.  The Eagles will enter Tuesday's semifinal round of the UMAC Tournament as the No. 4, and will face a familiar opponent – St. Scholastica – in Duluth.  Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. just a few miles from Lake Superior.
