Box Score

DULUTH, Minn. -- Northwestern's UMAC 34-match winning streak came to a halt on Friday night as the College of St. Scholastica beat the Eagles 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-21) in the Reif Gym. Anna Zyvoloski had 20 of the Saints' 50 kills as St. Scholastica (17-6, 6-0 UMAC) remained the only unbeaten team in the UMAC standings.

Northwestern didn't have a terrible outing. In fact, the Eagles posted a better hitting percentage (.237) than they had in 10 earlier contests this season. Friday's match featured almost all offense as volleys between the two sides of the court didn't last long. At .315, St. Scholastica also received nine kills from Paige Hardy and Taylor Tyllia, while Elissa Sandstrom (Cloquet, Minn./Carlton) (Cloquet, Minn./Carlton) led Northwestern with 10 kills on 19 attempts.

Leah Kostek (West Des Moines, Iowa/Des Moines Christian ) (West Des Moines, Iowa/Des Moines Christian), fresh off of her 3,000th career assist on Wednesday night, posted 32 assists against the Saints, serving up opportunities for Sandstrom and Greta King (Willmar, Minn./Willmar) (Willmar, Minn./Willmar), who added nine kills to the Eagles' attack.

Defensively, Courtney Jonas (Neenah, Wis./Valley Christian) (Neenah, Wis./Victory Christian) and Chelsea Koth (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) had three blocks apiece as NWC posted five as a team. Kelsey Korporal (Sumner, Iowa/Sumner-Fredericksburg) (Sumner, Iowa/Sumner-Fredericksburg) shared a match-high 11 digs with the Saints' Nikki Hughes.

Following the loss, Northwestern (14-10, 5-1 UMAC) will shift its attention to Saturday's triangular at Northland College in Ashland, Wis. The Eagles will take on Northland at 11 before facing Finlandia University 30 minutes after the end of the first match.
