Men's Soccer loses overtime heartbreaker at St. Scholastica

DULUTH, Minn. -- Jermaine Dacres' goal three minutes into the first overtime period lifted the College of St. Scholastica over Northwestern College 1-0 on Friday afternoon. With the victory, the Saints earned an edge over the Eagles atop the UMAC standings.

Dacres score was the only goal of the game as the reigning UMAC Offensive Player of the Week took a pass from Cody Sveiven and found the back of the net at the 93-minute mark.

Northwestern got one shot on goal during the game which was from the foot of Jeremy Stiner (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake). St. Scholastica countered with five shots on goal, four of which Eagles goalkeeper Josh Niedermayer (Oconomowoc, Wis./Kettle Moraine) (Oconomowoc, Wis./Kettle Morraine) stopped.

The Eagles fall to 3-4-1 overall (2-1-0 UMAC) after the loss, while St. Scholsatica continues its season at 8-2-1 (5-0-1 UMAC). Northwestern will travel to Ashland, Wis. tonight to face Northland College on Saturday, Oct. 2 in a 2 p.m. affair.
