St. Scholastica ends Eagles season at UMAC Tournament

DULUTH, Minn. -- The Northwestern College men's soccer season came to a close on Tuesday, as the Eagles lost a 6-2 battle to the College of St. Scholastica in the first round of the UMAC Post-Season Tournament. Alex Reyes (Guatemala City/Christian Academy) and Jeremy Stiner (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) each scored their fourth goal of the season for NWC, but the Eagles couldn't keep up with the Saints and their 20 shots.

Jermaine Dacres scored a pair of goals for St. Scholastica as the second-seeded Saints led 3-0 at halftime. CSS's Jim Atol quickly made it a 4-0 game with a goal three minutes into the second half before Reyes (Guatemala City, Guatemala/Christian Academy) put Northwestern on the board with a goal assisted by Dan Schumann (Ham Lake, Minn./Concordia Academy) (Ham Lake, Minn./Concordia Academy) at 66:56.

After St. Scholastica scored its fifth goal of the game, Stiner (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) scored on another Schumann assist, cutting the Saints' lead to 5-2. Joshua Odukomaya tacked on another insurance goal for CSS with just over two minutes to play in the game, and the Eagles left the field with a 6-2 defeat.

Northwestern posted 10 shots in the game compared to St. Scholastica's 20. Dacres and Toby Peter each had four shots for the Saints, while Stiner led the Eagles with three shots.

NWC ends its season with a 7-13-1 overall record and a 7-6-1 conference mark.
