ST. PAUL (Aug. 29, 2008) – The Northwestern College men's soccer team played one of its better games against non-conference opponent University of St. Thomas, but the Eagles fell short in a 3-0 final.
Northwestern controlled much of the field until the 30 minute mark, when the Eagles were called for a penalty and handed a red card. To make matters worse, the penalty occurred in the box, giving the Tommies a chance to capitalize early. St. Thomas freshman Mike Hutton did just that, putting his penalty kick past NWC keeper
Danny King (Willmar, MN/Willmar High School) (Willmar, Minn./Willmar).
Tommie goals in the 69th and 84th minutes sealed the deal, as St. Thomas went on to win 3-0.
Northwestern (0-1, 0-0 UMAC) will resume their schedule on Monday, Sept. 1, when they host Bethel University in a 1 p.m. bout at Reynolds Field.
