ASHLAND, Wis. (Feb. 8, 2008) – After trailing by seven points at halftime, the Northwestern College women's basketball team rallied to a victory and season sweep over Northland College on Friday, handing the Lumberjills a 62-57 defeat.
The Eagles used a 50 percent-performance in the final 20 minutes to seal the deal after making only 10 of their 27 shots in the initial period. 3-point shooting didn't hurt either, as NWC improved their mark by 15 percent in the second half to land at 33.3 percent for the game.
Ariel Liesch (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) paced Northwestern with 20 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double, while
Katie Tuseth (White Bear Lake, MN/White Bear Lake High School) (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake) and
Kelly Zuleger (Cresco, IA/Crestwood High School) (Cresco, Iowa/Crestwood) added 14 and 11 points, respectively.
Lindsey Hamm and Chelsea Lundgren each scored 14 points to lead Northland.
Northwestern will travel to Duluth, Minn. tomorrow for their second of back-to-back games, when they face St. Scholastica. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
