Women's Basketball falls to Augsburg in final minute

MINNEAPOLIS (Nov. 25, 2008) –
The Northwestern College women's basketball team was unable to hold its 31-25 halftime lead over Augsburg College on Tuesday night, as the host-Auggies rallied for a 51-48 win in the final minute of play.

Northwestern out-shot Augsburg 38 percent to 32 percent, but Augsburg's 24 points off of Northwestern's 28 turnovers was the difference-maker.

Ariel Liesch (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) led all players with 15 points, adding five rebounds and five assists to her game's stat line. Katie DeWitt (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) added eight points and 11 rebounds for Northwestern in the loss.

Jacci Mattern had 12 points for Augsburg, whiel Christa Suedbeck grabbed 11 rebounds in the game.

Northwestern (1-4 overall) will seek its second win of the season on Saturday, Nov. 29, when they travel to Viterbo University.
