ST. PAUL, Minn., Nov. 20, 2007 – The Northwestern College women's basketball team fell to 0-3 on their young 2007-08 season on Tuesday evening, falling to a high-powered Wisconsin-Stout team 73-46 in the Ericksen Center. 19 first half turnovers handicapped the Eagles right off the bat, as they attempted to play catch-up with the quick-moving Blue Devils. The reigning WIAC champions would have none of it though, as they committed a mere nine turnovers and scored 37 points off of Northwestern's blunders to own a 27-point victory.
Wisconsin-Stout ran out to a 9-1 lead within the game's first five minutes, pushing the lead to 19-9 with 9:11 remaining in the first half. Three minutes later, Stout held a 35-22 half time lead.
NWC didn't start the second half on a hot note, as Stout scored six straight points before the Eagles could counter with a

Nelson's basket sparked another Devils run though, and the visitors upped their lead to 25 with 9:42 to play. Northwestern cut the lead down to 19, but the end result was near, as Stout increased their all-time record against the Eagles to 20-6 with a 73-43 win.
Northwestern out-rebounded the Blue Devils 39-38, but it was UW-Stout's 16 offensive boards that turned into 17 second-chance points. The Eagles also barely bested Stout's shooting percentage, shooting 35.9 percent while the Blue Devils countered with 35.8 percent.
Kaelee Kendrick (Eagan, Minn./Bethany Academy) (Eagan, Minn./Bethany Academy) was Northwestern's third double-digit scorer of the season, leading the Eagles with 13 points. Add 10 rebounds to Kendrick's resume to equal the sophomore's first double-double of her career. She also had three blocks in the game.
Ariel Liesch (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) added 11 points and five rebounds in the loss for NWC.
Stout head coach Mark Thomas, who plays his team as if it were a hockey match with full line changes, saw 38 points from his bench.
Northwestern will take a quick Thanksgiving break before hitting the hard wood again on Saturday, when the Eagles travel down Snelling Avenue to play Hamline University. Saturday's contest is slated for a 7:30 p.m. start.
