LOUISVILLE, Ky. - After a successful season that produced five First Team All-Conference selections, the UMAC Pitcher of the Year and the UMAC Coach of the Year, the University of Northwestern Softball team is now receiving national recognition. In the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region Awards announcement, a pair of Eagles were recognized.
Bryn Anderson (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson) was named to the Region IX Second Team, while
Ireland Strubbe (Chandler, Ariz./Valley Christian) was a Third Team honoree.

Anderson was selected to the Second Team as an outfielder after primarily catching in her freshman season. One of UNW's five First Team All-Conference recipients, the sophomore has hit .404 on the season with 39 RBI, both ranking second on the team. She has also hit seven home runs and boasts an OPS of 1.063, which is third on the team. In the field, Anderson has been nearly perfect, holding a fielding percentage of .981. Strubbe earned Third Team All-Region IX honors after being named the UMAC Pitcher of the Year last week. The senior leads all UMAC pitchers with a 2.29 ERA and has logged 160 strikeouts, which ranks second in program history for a single season. She also set the career strikeouts (405) and wins (54) records for Northwestern and is tied for the single-season wins record (17).
Anderson, Strubbe and the rest of the Eagles will begin play in the NCCAA Softball World Series today at 3:30 PM in Grapevine, Texas.
