ST. PAUL, Minn. - After a season that produced a third-place finish in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference standings from a young squad, the University of Northwestern Baseball team saw five student-athletes honored by the conference in Wednesday's UMAC Baseball Awards. The Eagles had two players named to the All-Conference First Team, two receive Honorable Mention recognition, and one representative on the league's All-Sportsmanship Team.

Dreyer Homan (Clara City, Minn./MACCRAY) leads the way with his first All-Conference selection, as a pitcher. Transitioning from the bullpen to a starting role in 2026, the senior flourished and became Northwestern's ace, leading the UMAC in strikeouts (53) and innings pitched (44.0). His 2.66 ERA in conference games also ranked fifth in the league, and he tied for second in conference wins with four. For his efforts, Homan was named UMAC Pitcher of the Week three times (3/24, 4/14, 4/28) and received five national honors throughout the season as well. Joining Homan on the First Team was
Kason Pietruszewski (Warroad, Minn./Warroad), who earned the nod in one of two utility slots after breaking out as a two-way contributor in his first collegiate season. The rookie led UNW in batting average (.398, .311 in conference) and OPS (.928) after starting the season as a pitcher only, and led the team in stolen bases with 12 in 12 attempts. On the mound, his 4.12 ERA in league play ranked 10th among UMAC pitchers, while he finished second in innings pitched (39.1) and tied for fifth in wins (3).
In addition to the two First Team All-Conference selections, the Eagles also had a pair of Honorable Mention recipients. Freshman utility man
Jack Burns (Plainfield, Ill./Aurora Christian) was bestowed the honor after hitting .386 in UMAC games with three doubles, two triples, one home run and 22 RBI. He led the conference in at-bats (76) and was third in triples, tied for fourth in stolen bases (7), fifth in hits (28) and sixth in RBI. Overall on the season, he led the team in RBI (41), doubles (10), triples (5) and slugging percentage (.500). Like Pietruszewski, the fellow rookie also had success on the mound in addition to starting games at third base, second base, shortstop and right field, holding a 0.00 ERA in three conference appearances with nine strikeouts and just two hits surrendered in 7.1 innings. Burns's classmate,
Davis Winter (Wausau, Wis./Wausau East), was Northwestern's other Honorable Mention selection after leading the conference in hit-by-pitches (14) by a wide margin, and finishing third in on-base percentage (.526) in the leadoff spot. The freshman also tied for fourth in walks (13) and finished fifth in runs (23), seventh in stolen bases (6) and tied for eighth in hits (23). Winter also saw action on the mound, pitching three times in league play and producing a 4.66 ERA with nine strikeouts in 9.2 innings. His 30 HBP for the entire season obliterated the single-season program record and is third in NCAA Division III. Senior
Andrew Johnson (Dalton, Minn./Fergus Falls) was named the team's representative on the All-Sportsmanship team for his leadership and attitude. He ended his career with a literal bang as well, homering for the first time in his career in his final home game against North Central on May 4th.
