UNW Athletics Participated in Day of Prayer and Service

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Northwestern teams joined the community for the Day of Prayer and Service on Thursday.

Women's Soccer spent time spreading encouragement at a local hospital, creating flower bouquets with handwritten notes to bring hope to those they met. The Football team served on campus, helping clean the grounds and pick up around the athletic fields. Volleyball connected with the community at North Star Elementary, serving both students and staff in the classroom. Men's and Women's Track and Field took part in a service project at Feed My Starving Children in Coon Rapids, packing meals for people in need around the world. The teams packed 261 boxes—just 10 shy of the single-session record at the Coon Rapids location.

Throughout the year, Northwestern teams have remained committed to serving the community around them. Thursday's Day of Prayer and Service provided another opportunity to live out that mission, putting the department's "Compete With Purpose" mission statement on full display.
