ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Northwestern men's track and field team sent two athletes to the University of St. Thomas to open the 2026 indoor season.
Senior Owen Van De Riet (St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) began his final season with a strong performance in the mile, shaving one second off his personal best. Van De Riet clocked a time of 5:09.51 to place 11th overall.
Cody Johnson (Cottage Grove, Minn./New Life Academy) was the second Eagle to compete, making his collegiate debut in the long jump. Johnson recorded a jump of 6.06 meters (19'10.75").
The Eagles will return to action on Saturday, January 24, at the Vanessa Seljeskog Classic, hosted by Macalester College.
