HUTCHINSON, Minn. - It was another banner day for the red-hot University of Northwestern Women's Golf team, as it won the BLC Invite at Crow River Golf Club by a whopping 41 strokes with a team score of 315 (+31). The win is the fourth of the season for the Eagles,
who were awarded with their first Division III top 25 vote in program history on Friday.
Morgan Eckman (Jordan, Minn./Jordan) led the way with three birdies and a 76 (+5), earning her medalist honors for the third time this season.
Paige Johnson (Zimmerman, Minn./Homeschool) took silver, just one shot back at 77 (+6) with two back-nine birdies, while
Bri Brandt (Blaine, Minn./Legacy Christian Academy) finished in third place with two birdies and a 79 (+8).
Brielle Lenz (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) rounded out the scoring squad with an 83 (+12), putting her in fifth place.
Sondra Albrecht (Ham Lake, Minn./Legacy Christian Academy) turned in a 97 (+26) as the final player on the scoring team, but UNW brought a pair of individual performers as well.
Izzy Lee (Stillwater, Minn./St. Croix Prep) birdied the first hole and carded an 85 (+14) to take sixth place, while
Ellie Rolland (Otsego, Minn./Rogers) shot an 88 (+17) to finish in eighth.
Northwestern will be right back at it Saturday morning in the MLC Fall Invitational at Oakdale Golf Club in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota. The shotgun start will begin at 10:00 AM.
