BECKER, Minn. – The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference held its annual UMAC Preview Tournament on Thursday at Pebble Creek Golf Club, giving its member teams a chance to see the course they will be playing for the conference championship next month. True to form, the University of Northwestern Women's Golf team was victorious with a score of 338 (+50), 13 shots clear of second-place Crown College.
In addition to the team title,
Morgan Eckman (Jordan, Minn./Jordan) also emerged the victor on the individual side. The two-time reigning UMAC champion carded an 80 (+8) to win by three shots. Four shots back of Eckman, and finishing in a tie for third place, was freshman
Bri Brandt (Blaine, Minn./Legacy Christian Academy) (84, +12).
Paige Johnson (Zimmerman, Minn./Homeschool) tied for seventh place with an 86 (+14), while
Sondra Albrecht (Ham Lake, Minn./Legacy Christian Academy) used a birdie on the 18
th hole to turn in a score of 88 (+16) and tie for 10
th.
Ellie Rolland (Otsego, Minn./Rogers) rounded out UNW's starting lineup with an 89 (+17).
The Eagles also had two of players competing as individuals on Thursday.
Izzy Lee (Stillwater, Minn./St. Croix Prep) birdied the par-five fifth hole and tied for eighth place with an 87 (+15).
Brielle Lenz (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) finished in a tie for 14
th after shooting a 91 (+19).
Northwestern will be back in action Monday and Tuesday at the NCCAA North Central Regional in Huntley, Illinois.
