Philyaw in Second After 36 Holes in Florida

PALM COAST, Fla. - Morgan Philyaw's (Jordan, Minn./Jordan) quest to become a national champion is underway, as the University of Northwestern Women's Golf star competes as an individual at this week's National Christian College Athletic Association Women's Golf National Championship. Philyaw is also chasing a fourth NCCAA All-America honor in as many years, given to the top eight individual finishers in the field. This week has already been a memorable one for Philyaw and her family, as the senior was recognized as the 2026 recipient of the Dan & Kelly Wood Award at Sunday morning's championship breakfast. Follow along with all 54 holes of competition from Hammock Beach Resort live by clicking here.

Day One

The opening round of the tournament couldn't have gone much better for Philyaw, who appeared right at home on Hammock Beach Resort's Conservatory Course, which she has played plenty of times over her career. The senior started on the back nine and shot a one-over-par 37, with eight pars and one bogey on the card. Things veered off course a tad as she began the front nine with back-to-back bogeys, but she righted the ship with a par on hole three and a birdie on the par-five fourth, ultimately turning in a 76 (+4) for the round, which puts her in a tie for second place, just one stroke behind Wayland Baptist's Isabelle Victoria Soh.

As one of four players competing without a team, Philyaw will again be among the first off the 10th tee on Tuesday morning, teeing off at 7:38 AM CT (8:38 AM ET).

Day Two

Following Tuesday's second round, Philyaw remains in second place, this time by herself, after another 76 (+4). Her scorecard was nearly identical as well, parring eight holes on the back nine, with the lone bogey occurring on hole 13 instead of 14 this time. The All-American's front nine was similar as well, once again bogeying four holes and birdieing one, except this time the red number came on hole two, which she bogeyed on Monday. Her 36-hole total of +8 puts her two strokes behind Victoria Soh entering Wednesday's final round.

The final round of the championship will commence Wednesday morning at 7:30 AM CT (8:30 AM ET), with individual and team champions being crowned, as well as the top eight finishers earning All-America status.
